History​

In Bright investigate the old Bright lock-up and the Railway Museum.

Explore Wandiligong, an old mining settlement just a few Km from Bright, with a Chinese Joss House and the site of an infamous massacre.

Spot the dis-used tobacco kilns and learn about the social, agricultural and economic contribution made by European immigrants to the region.

Further afield, visit Beechworth, a town full of historic sandstone buildings and the scene of Ned Kelly’s trial and Yackandanda, a former gold mining town nestled in the foothills of Stanley State Forest and today the home of many acclaimed potters, painters, sculptors and crafters.

Across the Diving Range in East Gippsland is the heritage listed Omeo Historic Park and a museum that showcases the significance of the region throughout Victorian history.
